Shopping Smart!

I used to think that money flowed like water. Everything I asked for I always got. One day I saw this beautiful suede shoulder bag in the mall, which I could have sworn was calling out of me. Unfortunately, it cost more than my soul, and this time, mom wasn’t willing to help me out.
How many of us are stuck staring at empty wallets in front of a tempting shoes? How many times do we have to walk faster past our favorite stores, knowing that no matter how much we want stuffs, we just can’t afford it? Let’s face it girls, when it comes to our personal luxuries, our parents can only do so much. If we want more than what is given, that we have to step up and learn how to manage our money. That way we can actually have the power to buy the things we want.

Have a Goal in Mind
Having a goal motivates you to save in the first place. Ask yourself “what do you want to buy?” and “how much do I need to save?” You can start by making lists and writing an estimate price of how much each item will cost.

Have Options
When shopping, go as many stores as you can. You want to see if you can find the same item in a cheaper price. Find as many options as you can. Although the quality may differ, you have a range of choices at prices you can afford.

 Count the Cost
In life if you aren’t willing to let something go, then you’ll never realize what other things you could have had. The same goes for saving and spending. In saving you have to make certain sacrifices. It may seem painful to give up your favorite softdrink for a week, but believe me it will be worth the sacrifices in the end.

Keep it out your Reach
I normally keep my money in place that I don’t see. This is perhaps the best idea when it comes to saving money. We often get tempted to spend money if it’s there in your wallet. It’s a good idea to leave your money with someone you trust.

Think Twice

The beauty of saving is that it gives you enough time to think over. Once you’ve actually come up with the money to buy the things your heart desired, you might actually don’t want it anymore. Many people buy things right away but end up regretting what they bought later. Hold on to your money for a while and maybe later you’ll come across something you’ll really need.
